This report from the Housing, Communities and Local Government Committee shows the Government's response to the former Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (LUHC) Committee's report, Disabled People in the Housing Sector, which was published in May 2024.

The responses are to the report's conclusions and fourteen recommendations for action in the following areas:

  • Barriers to accessible housing
  • Increasing supply of accessilbe homes - including on previous commitments to M4(2) accessibility standards and the recommendation that all local plans in England should include a minimum percentage of M4(3) standard homes, as well as the recommendation that local authorities should be required to keep a register of accessibily of homes and social housing stock.
  • Adapting homes: the Disabled Facilities Grant - including a review of the £30,000 upper limit on individual grants as well improving awareness and support to applicants and their advocates as they navigate the process.
