European Federation for Living Design Competition: Accessible Housing 2015-2016
This jury report and book of designs from the EFL's Accessible Housing Design student competition features the winning 2015-2016 entries.
The competition brief outlined the changing needs of European housing in response to demographic shift towards an increasingly ageing society.
Architecture and design students were asked to design accessible residential building with a focus on the individual dwellings, assuming a blank canvas upon which to design.
As the report showcases, they came up with a range of imaginative solutions that create a bold vision for the future, drawing on inclusive (or universal) design to accommodate a greater degree of flexibility and adaptability in the way housing is designed and communities created in years to come.
