Housing LIN Animation: Future-Ready Sheltered Housing for Tomorrow's World
We are excited to release a compelling new animation titled "The Regeneration of Outdated Sheltered Housing", based on insights from the recent All-Party Parliamentary Group on Housing and Care for Older People’s (APPG-HCOP) Inquiry Report, funded by Abbeyfield. Serving as the APPG’s Secretariat and authoring the report, Housing LIN presents this animation to educate and inspire viewers on the past, present, and future of sheltered housing for older adults in the UK.
Narrated by Housing LIN, this animation walks viewers through a retrospective journey of sheltered housing development from the 1960s, showcasing changing needs, innovations, and the evolving vision for living environments for older adults. Viewers follow two characters, Emily and Jane, as they witness the transformation of a local sheltered housing scheme, from its early days of "mod cons" and warden-led support to today’s secure and tech-enhanced retirement living. The animation provides a glimpse of the next frontier, ‘tomorrow’s world’: intergenerational, mixed communities designed to bring together people of all ages, with cutting-edge technology enabling older adults to live independently while feeling connected and supported.
