Independent Review of Affordable Housing Supply
There has long been recognition of the significant role that appropriate housing can play in improving society and the economy, for example, contributing to good physical and mental health and increasing educational attainment.
Increasing the supply of housing to meet need across all tenures is therefore critical in these and other ways. Increasing the supply of affordable homes can help reduce homelessness and poverty. Furthermore, affordable housing provision provides people who cannot afford market housing to access adequate and suitable accommodation.
This review, commissioned by the Welsh Government, does not make specific recommendations relating to housing for older people, but there is recognition that there is a need for better capture of the more refined understanding of needs (for example see the Equalities and Human Rights Commission report on Wales in 2018 (opens new window)).
Again while there are no specific recommendations on designing age-friendly housing there are recommendations relating to better quality housing and Lifetime Homes.
