Making the Vision a Reality: ‘Doing Housing Differently’

This report by Great Homes for Greater Manchester collects the views of housing sector professionals, influencers and decision-makers to build collaboration, share and plan how to deliver new homes and neighbourhoods as part of the Greater Manchester Mayoral ambitions.
The report presents the 4 GH4GM summit findings, featuring the following topics of discussion and key questions:
- Affordability – what does “affordable” look like in Greater Manchester?
- The quality of the homes being built - what does a “good” home look like?
- Health and sustainability from housing – what are the main priorities for recovery from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic?
- Innovation, investment and powers – how can Greater Manchester change people’s aspirations through innovation?
Each of the above discussion points summarises with a set of 10 key requirements for Greater Manchester to carry out each of these goals.
The report concludes with an action plan that provides 8 points of action for Greater Manchester – including encouraging a more devolved approach to delivery of affordable housing and supporting and funding an immediate green retrofit programme.
