No Place Like Home

This report from Leonard Cheshire Disability calls for more disabled-friendly and adaptable homes to be built across the UK. The key findings set out in the report include:

• 300,000 disabled people are already on housing waiting lists across Great Britain;
• 5 million people in the UK have a mobility problem and could benefit from a disabled-friendly home, and yet only a tiny percentage of homes are properly accessible for someone with a mobility impairment;
• Poor quality housing can lead to huge extra costs for the health service, as well as a massive negative impact on disabled and older people themselves.
