Sloppy Slipper Exchange Scheme

Issue: To reduce falls and accidents in the home caused by poorly fitting footwear

Action: The Sloppy Slipper exchange scheme organised by the older person's service co-ordinator from South Liverpool housing aims to reduce falls and accidents in the home caused by poorly fitting footwear.

Poorly fitting footwear results in thousands of elderly accidents and deaths every year.

Falls are a major cause of fractures in older people which can lead to reduced mobility and permanent disability in extreme cases.

The wearing of inappropriate footwear also increases the risk of falls.

So some think as simple as changing ill fitting footwear can help prevent accidents and reduce the risk of falls amongst the elderly.

The footwear below is the type of slippers that were given out at the sloppy slipper scheme they have non-slip rubber sole and an in-built heel.

The Slippers Can be bought from a firm called Nature Form www.natureform.co.uk
