Social care: forthcoming Green Paper (England)
This House of Commons Library briefing paper looks at the forthcoming Green Paper on social care for adults.
The original rationale for the Green Paper was to explore the issue of how social care is funded, and a number of policy ideas have reportedly been under consideration for inclusion in the Green Paper.
There is due to be a section relating to housing and social care.
The Government has said that “housing will be a crucial part of considerations for reform of care and support”, adding “we intend to set out proposals for existing, new, and specialised housing, to ensure people can live in a ‘safe and suitable’ home, for as long as possible”. The former Health and Social Care Secretary said that the Green Paper will have a “significant chapter on housing”.
