This NIHR funded report from the Quality and Outcomes of Person-Centred Care Policy Research Unit brings together estimates of the comparative benefits of public expenditure on social care and its cost-effectiveness and the implications of any increased funding.

Interestingly it notes that any additional funding should be used to improve access to care, not the intensity.
