Vision for Canolfan Lleu
Grŵp Cynefin has published a vision document detailing plans for for Canolfan Lleu, a holistic centre for wellbeing in Dyffryn Nantlle based in Penygroes in the county of Gwynedd. The vision summarises the narrative of the Canolfan Lleu project and sums up the core intentions, its aims, its approach to bringing change to the valley and what it offers.
Canolfan Lleu is about strengthening the communities across Dyffryn Nantlle by supporting its people in their own sense of well-being and creates a platform that facilitates social interaction and unites the strengths of the community.
The proposals have been co-developed with local residents, and regional and national partners to form an architectural vision with holistic programming around wellbeing. The proposal offers a range of services, both preventative and traditional health provision, housing, a community theatre and office space and public realm to spend time together, including:
- 36 bed residential home
- 17 flats that facilitate independent living
- Core general medical services with shared facilities, a community pharmacy and dental service
- Traditional and preventative community health services
- Multi-purpose spaces for young people, support services andspaces for third sector to deliver outreach provision
- New Grŵp Cynefin offices incorporating suitable spaces for modern, flexible working
- A new home for Theatr Bara Caws including offices, rehearsal space and a theatre
- Spaces to promote intergenerational activity.
This vision document further includes a body of studies, community consultations, architectural sketches, and masterplan.
