Professor Andrew King Co-Director of the Centre for Research on Ageing and Generations, University of Surrey

Andrew King is Professor of Sociology at the University of Surrey, where he co-directs the Centre for Research on Ageing and Generations, as well as being a founding co-director of the Centre of Excellence on Ageing.

He has researched LGBTQ+ ageing for seventeen years. During the past eight years, Andrew has focused much of his research and knowledge exchange activities on housing for LGBTQ+ people. Andrew led projects which successfully created and established the HouseProud Pledge Scheme, a national equality framework to empower social housing organisations to provide more LGBTQ+ inclusive services.

In all of this, Andrew has collaborated extensively with LGBTQ+ community organisations and members, as well as the housing sector.
