Neurodiversity in Planning: Engagement Toolkit
This toolkit by communications agency Cavendish provides seven principles to help facilitate and encourage greater neurodiverse engagement at all stages of the planning process. It is aimed at those engaging with the public and stakeholders, as part of planning and infrastructure development, so that they can make infrastructure and planning consultation and engagement - be it online or in person - accessible for a neurodiverse audience.
The toolkit explains the distinction between neurodiversity, neurodivergence and neurotypical. The overarching principles that binds these core elements provide a guide to improving accessibility - from involving neurodiverse voices to providing user choices and more.
Furthermore, they aim to make it easier for all people to be able to contribute to, influence and participate in planning, and to support people to be able to contribute to planning as suits them best rather than as is easiest for industry professionals.
