HLINks: Ireland Visit, New Housing LIN Viewpoint, news, resources, and events from the specialist housing sector
Welcome to this week’s HLINks, the weekly bulletin from the Housing LIN. This week we report on the Housing LIN visit to Ireland to share our insights about developing housing solutions for an ageing population, and we publish Housing LIN Viewpoint 98, which examines the current guidelines for inclusive housing for people with learning disabilities.
We also have new resources, news and features, and events from the specialist housing sector.
Housing LIN Ireland Visit
This week, Clare Skidmore and Ian Copeman of the Housing LIN attended a Housing Agency Ireland event to share their insights about developing housing solutions for an ageing population.
The event showcased the work of the Housing LIN, highlighting the Housing LIN’s approach to collaboration with partners across central and local government, housing and the NHS in the UK to promote housing options which support health and wellbeing.
It is hoped that this visit signals the first stage of an ongoing, fruitful relationship between colleagues with shared values and objectives in the UK and Ireland – united in the commitment to promoting high quality housing solutions for older people in both countries.
Housing LIN Viewpoint
Design Guidelines for inclusive, enabling environments for adults with complex needs
Housing LIN Viewpoint 98 has been written by Archadia Chartered Architects and Planners, and considers the current standards and typologies of specialist supported housing provision for people with profound and multiple learning disabilities.
Drawing on case studies by Archadia in both refurbishment and new build projects, it suggests there is a lack of relevant design guidance. This viewpoint provides recommendations for further research needed in this area.
