Have we got an e-news for you: Read HLINks for latest sector news, views, resources and events
Welcome to Jeremy talks and my weekly piece to audio to coincide with our FREE, sector-leading weekly bulletin, HLINks, week ending Friday, 30 October 2020.
This week saw the 3rd session of the APPG on Housing and Care for Older People inquiry into the housing experiences of people living with dementia. The session, chaired by Lord Best, focussed on the design and build of purpose-built housing for people with dementia, the retrofitting/adaptation of existing homes, the use of new and digital technologies, and how organisations are championing dementia-friendliness in their housing policies and practice.
In other news, we published a new Housing LIN case study by HTA architects on their award winning intergenerational development, Hanham Hall, in South Gloucestershire for Baratt Homes and Sovereign Housing Association.
And following the publication of the guide Adaptations Without Delay and nearly 5,000 page visits and 1,500 downloads from our website, we have teamed up with RCOT to survey our membership about the impact the guide has had. Please give us your feedback, don’t delay!
In this week’s HLINks, you can also read our curated round-up of other relevant news and events on later life living with regard to homes and communities, health and social care, design and technology, planning matters and more, including the release of the Housing and Dementia Research Consortia’s report on the prevalence of dementia in extra care housing.
Check this out and register here to keep in touch with all our news alerts and other notifications of your choice, sent direct to your inbox, including details about our week long, virtual #HLINSummit2020 on w/c Monday, 7 December. This week’s Housing LIN case study
A hallmark for naturally occurring intergenerational living - Hanham Hall, South Gloucestershire
This Housing LIN Case Study (No 160) captures the key design characteristics of the award-wining Hanham Hall, outside Bristol. It is England's first large-scale volume house builder scheme to achieve the zero-carbon standard, and is one of the flagship Carbon Challenge schemes promoted by Homes England. The scheme for Barratt Homes and Sovereign Housing Association addresses local housing requirements for intergenerational living by providing a wide range of accommodation, from 1-bedroom flats and coach houses to five-bedroom houses, along with office space, a crèche, and cafe.

Take part in this survey on Adaptations Without Delay
In partnership with RCOT, we have now devised this short survey and are interested to know how Adaptations Without Delay is being used by personnel involved in the home adaptation process, and whether the guide has been of benefit to you, your service and your service users.
Please take part and have your say by 5pm on Friday, 13 November 2020. It should take no longer than 5 - 10 minutes to complete. Don’t delay!
