New Inspirational Achievement feature: Building a new multi-generational neighbourhood

Our latest Inspirational Achievement focuses on a multi-generational community scheme in Shaw Heath, Stockport led and designed by PRP’s Manchester studio. The plans to repurpose the former St Thomas’ Hospital buildings into a new, flagship multi-purpose and multi-generational town centre neighbourhood are part of Stockport Council’s vision for the area.

Find out more about how this £25 million development is specifically designed to create a multi-generational community, and learn more about the Academy of Living Well, a 70-bed intermediate care and dementia facility is also planned for the North-eastern end of the site.

The Association For Dementia Studies

Developed by the University of Worcester, Association for Dementia Studies the new gardens tool explains the importance of outdoor spaces, some of the principles of dementia friendly design, and an overview of how to use the tool.

It also covers seven key areas that comprises a rationale of why it is relevant to people living with dementia and a series of questions to get you thinking about your outdoor spaces.
