In this week’s edition, we draw attention to a new Housing LIN guest blog by Sara Livadeas, Head of Operations and Engagement Programmes Canadian operator Origin Active Living, about their take on the UK later living market and plans for growth.
We also share a new report published by Anchor this week which looks into the changing nature of family dynamics in the UK, peoples’ expectations of later life – particularly in terms of independence and care – and how retirement housing can help to tackle these challenges.

Consultation outcome - Revoking vaccination as a condition of deployment across all health and social care
The government conducted a public consultation from 9 to 16 February 2022 on whether to revoke provisions which require COVID-19 vaccination as a condition of deployment in health and social care settings.
The government's response confirms that they intend to proceed with bringing forward regulations to revoke vaccination as a condition of deployment.

Housing LIN microsite shares resources based on the findings from the Diversity in Care Environments (DICE) research study
Hosted by the Housing LIN, the resources on these Diversity in Care Environments (DICE) webpages are based on findings from the DICE research study, conducted by the School for Policy Studies, University of Bristol, in collaboration with the International Longevity Centre-UK and the Housing LIN.
This includes a policy report and an e-Learning Resource Tool.

TAPPI2: From Principles to Implementation - Weekly updates
As announced in February, a second phase of the TAPPI programme has now being launched – TAPPI 2.
To support the delivery of the programme, The Dunhill Medical Trust (DMT) are taking applications for a Co-Production and Engagement Partner who will work with us and the locality testbeds to ensure the views of people who draw on services both current and future, their families and carers and housing organisations are reflected in the programme and the Framework.
The deadline for receipt of applications is 18 March 2022 at 5:00pm.
ITEC 2022 - Unlocking Personalised Outcomes: Life and Living Empowered by Digital Care
Join the Housing LIN team at the launch of TAPPI 2 at the TEC Services Association (TSA) ITEC Conference on Tuesday, 29 March and opening the funding call for organisations who wish to be considered to be a Locality Testbed.
This event is for anyone working with technology enabled care across TEC, Housing, Social Care and Health!
The Housing LIN has secured their members a 40% discount on attendance fees at ITEC2022.
New Telehealth Pilot aims to support Older People to Age in Place
This project, undertaken by a multi-agency Stakeholder Group, provided a 12-week telehealth intervention to 50 patients with chronic illnesses including Chronic Heart Disease, COPD & Diabetes.
The report's findings included that the majority of participants perceived that telehealth helped them manage their condition by giving them reassurance that there was clinical oversight and confidence in their ability to manage, as well as identifying when they needed to take health related actions.

Health and Social Care, Mental Health and Learning Disability
King's Fund Social Care 360
The King's Fund latest Social Care 360 report is a comprehensive overview of access to social care, expenditure and providers, workforce and carers and quality, encompassing both the first and second waves of the Covid-19 pandemic. Findings include:
- Public expenditure on social care has increased sharply due to the government response to COVID-19
- New requests for support from older people to LAs went down, most likely as people avoided contact with formal care services, but requests for support from working-age adults increased
- Overall, the number receiving formal long-term care services went up
Safeguarding Adult Reviews Quality Markers
This SCIE briefing provides dates and details of the support offer. It will be relevant to Safeguarding Adult Board (SAB) chairs, business managers, independent reviewers and professionals in quality assurance roles involved in incident reviews and SARs.

Housing and Dementia
HDRC research project: survey on pain management for people living with dementia in long-term care settings
An initial pilot study to explore the assessment and management of pain for people living with dementia in extra care housing schemes, retirement villages and care homes. Evidence from this survey will be used in building a larger, more in depth, externally funded project.
The deadline for completing the survey is today, Friday 4 March.
