All the news you need and more.
Friday, 29th April 2022
Welcome to #Jeremytalks and our must-read weekly bulletin HLINks.
In this edition, we draw attention to Policy Connect's new report, ‘Smarter Homes for Independent Living: Putting people In Control of their Lives’ that looks at how smart home technology is a huge opportunity for disabled and older people to take control of their lives, to live independently with more choice and control over their lives.
This week, we also celebrated Global Intergenerational Awareness Week 2022, a campaign connecting everyone who is passionate about everything intergenerational. The Housing LIN has happily signed up to show our support by sharing a selection of resources that you may find useful on intergenerational and multi-generational living.
We also remind readers that the deadline to supply evidence to the current APPG on Housing and Care for Older People Inquiry, ‘Making retirement living affordable: the role of shared ownership housing’ is 4 May 2022.
And remember, there’s still time to apply to become one of The Dunhill Medical Trust’s TAPPI2 “testbeds”. The deadline for submissions is 16 May 2022.

How can technology help older and disabled people live more independently in their homes?
This new Policy Connect report, ‘Smarter Homes for Independent Living: Putting people In Control of their Lives’, highlights how smart home technology is a huge opportunity for disabled and older people to take control of their lives, to live independently with more choice and control over their lives.
Commission chair Sir Paul Carter CBE and author Clive Gilbert discuss good practice case studies of the impact smart home technology can have.
This report outlines tangible actions that government and industry can take to support independent living and improve the quality of life of disabled and older people and their families, while also reducing financial pressures on the NHS and the social care system.
