Tackling the loneliness crisis with home care – A digital smart home assistant

We hope you are well? We are from HomeCare Team, working for Accenture, a global consultancy organisation based in London, specialising in developing sustainable solutions for businesses and realising value with innovation at its core.

UKRI Healthy Ageing Challenge

As part of the Healthy Ageing Challenge which is funded by UKRI, our team at Accenture has been working with Hafod housing association in Wales to develop a product called HomeCare.

It runs on the Amazon Echo device via Alexa and is designed to support older people’s independence and wellbeing by connecting them with friends, family and online services through voice interaction.

One of our main aims is to overcome digital exclusion by using Alexa to make the technology more accessible, and to support Ageing in Place. We are currently trialling HomeCare with some of Hafod’s tenants in the Cardiff area.

We’re now looking to scale-up our trial so we can continue learning from users to refine the product further. If you are a housing association or social landlord in the London area, it would be great to have a chat about potentially working with you to run a similar trial with your residents.
