HLINks - Catch up with the Housing LIN
Let's catch up!
Friday, 14th April 2023
This week, we put the spotlight on the HLIN Cymru Steering Group by publishing our new Welsh prospectus. The prospectus showcases the group's work and aspirations and extends an invitation to organisations interested in housing for older people in Wales to become part of our family of sponsors.
In other news, today is the deadline for organisations to express interest in becoming an exclusive sponsor of our external news management at the Housing LIN. This is an ideal opportunity to be closely associated with our news platform, e-bulletin, and other information-sharing activities. Don't miss out!
This week, I participated in productive meetings with the HoME Coalition, advocating for greater accessibility in new homes up to at least Part M4 (2), and the Dementia & Housing Working Group, promoting greater awareness of dementia in our sector.
Other items that caught my interest this week include:
- UKRI Healthy Ageing Challenge news: Funding for 16 projects announced
- Healthy City Design 2023 conference: Call for papers
- RIBA coalition fire safety campaign: call for 2 staircases for residential buildings above 18m
- Frontiers in Sociology research article: Socio-gerontechnology-New perspectives on the digital transformation of later life
- Taylors & Francis research article: A 3-UK-nation survey on dementia and the cost of living crisis: contributions of gender and ethnicity on struggling to pay for social care
- Inclusion London article: The Social Model of Disability
- BBC Sounds feature (1:39:23): Searching for an accessible home
- Community Living blog: The foundations to build a real home
- The TAPPI Cast: for the latest news from the TAPPI projects
Finally, we're always eager to hear your stories and receive your case studies and thought leadership on good practices. If you would like to contribute, email us at: comms@housinglin.org.uk.
Stay connected, stay curious!

"Stories are the way we connect with our past, our present, and our future. They're the way we pass wisdom" - an inspiring quote I came across from Generations Working Together, promoting their story guide for intergenerational connections for educators of children 0 - 12. This guide is for everyone who would like to see intergenerational connections reflected in books. The guide addresses themes of ageism, diversity, and lifelong learning.
