HLINks - Catch up with the Housing LIN

Let's catch up!

Welcome to this week's HLINks, your housing with care e-bulletin | Friday, 7 July 2023

Welcome to #JeremyTalks,

We are saddened to learn that Lord Kerslake, chair of Peabody, has died. He championed social housing and held many prestigious roles, including Chief Executive of the Homes and Communities Agency (now Homes England) when it oversaw the work of the ‘Housing our Ageing Population: Panel for Innovation’ and the publication of the first HAPPI report 15 years ago.

In other news, it's been a busy week on the news front….

A new report from the Learning Disability and Autism Housing Network was launched in the House of Commons. Written by Housing LIN, 'Supported housing for people with learning disabilities and autistic people in England' reveals the scale, scope and cost of supported housing for people with learning disabilities and autism.

We published a Housing LIN guest blog by Dr Anne Labit at Universities of Orléans and Tours, France, on her research into cohousing for older people across six European sites. And, to coincide with this year's Coproduction Week, TAPPI partners published three new Personal Stories from our Co-production Champions Group on the positives and negatives of digital technology.

I was also delighted to attend ARCO’s annual conference in London, Rising to the Challenge.

What else caught my interest:

Finally, we're always eager to hear your stories and receive your case studies and thought leadership on good practices. If you would like to contribute, email us at: comms@housinglin.org.uk.

Stay connected, stay curious!

This Housing LIN guest blog by Dr Anne Labit at Universities of Orléans and Tours, France, shares useful insights into Participatory Action Research on Solidarity, Housing and Innovation in Age. The study sought to explore the claim that living in a Cohousing community cultivates "social capital" and "empowerment" among the residents, two benefits that are acknowledged as having the potential to promote "good ageing".
