We are thrilled to attend this week's Housing 2024 conference in Manchester!

On Tuesday 25th June, our CEO Jeremy Porteus will present in two sessions: 'Specialist Housing: Designing Homes That Generations Thrive In' from 12:00pm to 1:00pm in the Future of Living Theatre (Charter 3), and 'Improving health through housing: Making integration work' from 2:00pm to 2:45pm as part of PfH Live.

Our Business Director, Ian Copeman, will also speak on 'The Role of Repurposing and Regenerating to Create Healthy New Homes and Places' from 2:00pm to 3:00pm in the Future of Living Theatre (Charter 3). And, on Wednesday 26th June, Jeremy Porteus will chair TSA's session on 'The Future of Housing: Helping people maintain the life they wish to lead in a place they call home' in Collabs Hubs (Charter 2) from 10:45am to 12:05pm.

We are also excited to host two invite-only roundtables: one with Invisible Creations on inclusive living, and another with Pozzoni on designing housing for an ageing population. We look forward to sharing the key takeaways in next week's news update!

In this webinar, generously supported by United St Saviour’s Charity, we celebrate modern hospice design with distinguished architect and author Ken Worpole, who discussed his updated book, Modern Hospice Design: The Architecture of Palliative and Social Care.

We are also joined by Alison Benzimra, Head of Research and Influence at United St Saviour's Charity, who shared insights from their award-winning scheme, Appleby Blue in Bermondsey, and Mary Hutchison, Associate Director at PRP Architects, who shared how they have created compassionate and homely hospice environments.

Carers UK's Caring Survey - Have Your Say!

The Carers UK annual State of Caring survey is the most extensive survey into unpaid carers’ experiences in the UK. 

This year, there is a specific section on housing in the survey, focusing on 3 key questions:

  • carers’ housing situations
  • any challenges carers might be experiencing with managing housing costs
  • and any changes to carers’ housing situations as a result of caring.

Last week, we drew attention to various useful resources to help ensure people with a learning disability are seen in housing. 

These resources highlight the shortfall of supported accommodation and the need for more housing options that provide person-centred care and support. They also highlight how this can be achieved through co-production.
