Celebrating Year Two of the Intersectional Stigma of Place-Based Ageing (ISPA) Project

Last week marked the 2nd Anniversary of the Intersectional Stigma of Place-Based Ageing (ISPA) Project, an ambitious 5-year participatory mixed-method study that explores and understands how the stigma attached to where people live can intersect with experiences of disability and ageing.

To celebrate, we’ve published five new reports along with a blog by Principal Investigator Professor Vikki McCall from the University of Stirling. These delve deeper into the theme, exploring project successes, data analysis on age and disability discrimination, inclusion practices, disability-related events, and more!

Breathing cleaner air in our homes - briefing note

In this brief, the authors of the INGENIOUS project focus on indoor air quality in UK homes. The INGENIOUS project is designed to better understand indoor air quality and how we can take practical steps to improve it.

INGENIOUS is led by Professor Nicola Carslaw at the University of York, working with the universities of Cambridge, Manchester and Sheffield, Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) and Born in Bradford (BiB) with UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) support.

Housing for older people win awards at Inside Housing Development Awards 2024

Friday’s Inside Housing Development Awards 2024 ceremony celebrated several standout housing developments for their excellence. Among the honorees was United St Saviour’s contemporary almshouse in Southwark, which was praised as a top example of innovative urban living. The Appleby Blue development claimed the award for Best Supported Housing Development.

Intergenerational England (IE) have unveiled their new branding and website, setting the stage for their vision of creating a more age-inclusive society.

The Planning Advisory Service (PAS) wants to gather information on how local authority planners currently consider older person housing and which Use Classes are appropriate for differing typologies of older persons housing which come forward.

Welsh Government annual return on social housing provision in Wales

Latest data released by the Welsh Government shows that c.15% (30,693) of all local authority and housing association managed stock in Wales (203,879) is sheltered/extra care housing and supported housing stock.

While there has been a very small reduction in sheltered/extra care housing supply, to 27,938 units, there has been a c.10% increase of supported housing provision, to 5,430 units in Wales.
