New Housing LIN Animation: Future-Ready Sheltered Housing for Tomorrow's World
On behalf of the Housing LIN Cymru Steering Group, we are pleased to share the recording from this year's Annual Symposium chaired by Lord Best, focusing on the recent APPG Inquiry report on the Regeneration of Outdated Sheltered Housing and examples of how its recommendations are being applied in Wales.
During the Symposium, we were pleased to launch our new animation, looking back at and into the future for sheltered housing through the eyes of two young friends as they age.
Understanding the intersectional stigma of ageing, disability, and place: a systematic literature mapping review
The Intersectional Stigma of Place-based Ageing Project has published its first journal article, presenting findings from a systematic review of research that has a combined focus on ageing, disability, place, and stigma.
Published in Housing Studies, the article advocates an approach that will combine the strengths of housing studies literature with insights from other disciplines, including gerontology and disability studies.
Lonely Nation: How to tackle loneliness through the built environment
This report from the Centre for Social Justice, in collaboration with the Randal Charitable Foundation and the Wates Family Enterprise Trust, demonstrates the importance of the built environment for tackling loneliness and argues for government to prioritise development with design features that contribute to social connection and wellbeing.
The forgotten story of social care: The case for improving outcomes for working age and lifelong disabled adults
This report from the County Councils Network and Newton reveals the growing costs of providing care for working age and disabled adults and makes the case for putting this group at the centre of plans for a National Care Service, proposing reforms to the system to focus more on prevention, helping people live more independent lives and to reduce future costs.
Digital switchover partner toolkit
The Local Government Association have updated their digital switchover partner toolkit, intended for councils and partners to use to raise awareness of the digital switchover and its implications for residents.

Welsh Government publishes a 10-point plan for successful hospital discharge in 50 days
An initiative placing greater emphasis on cross sector coordination has been launched as part of the Welsh Government’s Winter Resilience Plan to improve hospital discharge times and care at home for the remainder of this year.
The 50-day Integrated Care Winter Challenge aims to help more people safely return home from hospital and ease winter pressures on the health and care system.
HM Treasury publishes areas of research interest
Hot on the heals of the Chancellor’s autumn budget last month, HM Treasury have published its areas of research interest.

Survey exploring dementia-related stigma in Extra Care Housing
The Association for Dementia Studies at the University of Worcester invites you to take part in a study that involves completing an anonymous survey to explore stigma, prejudice and discrimination towards people with dementia living in Extra Care Housing settings.
The survey now closes on 29th November 2024.
