This week was Dementia Action Week, and the Housing LIN has been publishing examples of best practice in dementia care all week. We also have news about the winners of the EAC's Housing for Older People Awards, and our usual roundup of news from across the housing with care and specialist housing sectors.

Dementia Care Best Practice Case Studies
This week was Dementia Action Week 2019. Every day this week we have been publishing case studies looking at best practice in dementia care.

EAC Awards
Housing for Older People Awards 2019
Tuesday saw the EAC's Housing for Older People Awards 2019. The awards were a great success, and the Housing LIN would like to congratulate all of the national and regional winners.

Housing and Dementia
Designing the homes of the future for people affected by dementia
The Dementia and Housing Working Group is launching an exciting new event which will look at the impact of design in the home on a person’s mental and physical wellbeing.
During the conference there will be up to ten, short presentations lasting no longer than 10 mins. Interested parties are invited to submit proposals for oral presentations by completing the attached form and emailing it to: Vanessa.Pritchard-Wilkes@housing21.org.uk by 1 August 2019.
SCIE Housing and Dementia Hub
This week also saw the launch of the new SCIE dementia and housing portal. Aided in development by Katey Twyford, our dementia co-lead, the site is cobranded with the Housing LIN and looks at different housing options available for people living with dementia.

This week has seen the publication of three major reports, all of which raise serious concerns about extremely negative experiences, poor health and wellbeing outcomes, abuse, and in some cases, early deaths, experienced by some people with learning disabilities and / or autism.
