It's Global Intergenerational Week 2024!
We are proud to support this year's Global Intergenerational Week from 24th to 30th April! This annual worldwide campaign, hosted by Generations Working Together, encourages everyone to embrace intergenerational practice and relationships.
Intergenerational Housing
At Housing LIN, we believe that intergenerational housing can offer opportunities for social connection, a support system, cost-effective living, community building and so much more.
Thanks to the generous support of Places for People Living Plus, we have compiled a selection of resources on intergenerational living. They include:
- Housing to span the generations: A 21st Century Almshouse for Bristol by Tony Watts, Co-founder of Age Action Alliance
- A mixed age, intergenerational living model of extra care housing in Leicester by Natasha Bednall, Business Change Commissioning Manager at Leicester City Council
- Building Healthy Communities through Intergenerational Integrated Housing Practices by Charlotte Miller, Co-Founder of Intergenerational England
For further information on how we can assist you strategically or operationally in enhancing your range of housing options and transforming services for people in an intergenerational housing setting, please contact us at: consultancy@housinglin.org.uk.
More on Intergenerational Housing
HAPPI Hour Webinar - Why Intergenerational Connection Matters
Following a successful pilot with Clarion and Orbit, InCommon (opens new window) - a charity with a mission to connect groups of young people with their older neighbours in retirement housing - has developed a brand new Empower Programme.
Join us online on Monday 29 April 2024 from 4pm as we explore how Empower helps housing associations across the UK deliver impactful intergenerational activities, with the help of a simple online platform.
You'll also gain insights from into the effectiveness of the online platform as a tool to enable intergenerational activity, as well as the social impact of InCommon’s intergenerational activity.
Intergenerational England
We're also a proud member of Intergenerational England (opens new window)'s Intergenerational Housing Steering Group (IHSG), joining forces with leading housing organisations Clarion, Clarion Futures, HACT and Sovereign Network Group (SNG).
Recognising the growing importance of intergenerational initiatives across the housing sector, the collaboration aims to spearhead a transformative strategy for widespread acknowledgment and measurement of the tangible impact and benefits.
The overall aim of the IHSG is to elevate the status of intergenerational activities within the housing sector, generating increased cross-sector awareness and value.
