Daring to Discover: Bold Steps into New Horizons

My experience on the Leadership programme has been delightful from the beginning. Working in Housing as a young professional, it can be harder to find people on a similar journey or at the start of the career. This programme has allowed me to access a network of professionals with the same vision from across the country for us all to share learning and project ideas.   

Looking back a year on, I was contemplating whether I was ‘missed out’ living amidst the vibrant tech and creative hubs of London, I often felt alien to the artistry surrounding me. However, through this programme, I discovered the vast opportunities and horizons within the housing sector. It opened my eyes to the impact I could have on communities and how multifaceted and rewarding this industry can be.

Exploring the Inspired Villages Millfield Green site for the first time in July last year was an enriching experience that deepened my understanding of sustainable development in action. Spending the day with their teams provided valuable insights into how they prioritise sustainability in their planning and operations. It was clear that environmental stewardship is at the heart of their work. I was particularly inspired by their commitment to creating communities that are not only functional and beautiful but also environmentally conscious. This visit and the presentation reinforced my appreciation for innovative design and motivated me to consider how I can incorporate leadership principles into my own professional journey.

I look forward to a bright future within housing and encouraging young people with a positive interest in shaping its future to join the journey.
