This week's HLINKs: 25 - 29 October 2021

Jeremy Porteus

Welcome to  #Jeremytalks (opens new window) and our must-read weekly bulletin, HLINks (opens new window), week-ending Friday, 29 September 2021.

This is where you can take a tour of relevant resources and events on later life housing and independent living with regard to homes and communities, health and social care, design and technology, dementia, planning matters and more.

Well, what a week of news it has been! While the nation may have been fixed on the Chancellor's spending plans, the highlight for me has been the launch of the TAPPI Inquiry report. Over 260 people registered to join us on Tuesday's HAPPI Hour when we were pleased to share the ‘Big Insights’ from the 6-months drawing on Panel Members and witnesses to highlight the key findings and recommendations for a future TAPPI Framework that is co-designed with citizens and co-produced with Industry.

Ahead of the launch, we were also pleased to publish a guest blog by Tim Barclay, CEO of Appello, reflecting on the use of technology in specialist housing and explaining why they fully support the TAPPI Inquiry Report.

Then yesterday, we announced the programme for December's Housing LIN Virtual Summit 2021, our 10th anniversary celebration. We have over 40 speakers joining us over 5 days, week commencing Monday, 6 December 2021 to share the latest in thought-leadership, highlighting product and service innovations, as well as bringing you cutting-edge research and practice development for the UK’s housing and care sector. Our A Festival of Ideas also coincides with the 2nd HAPPI Awareness Week, celebrating the benefits of designing care-ready accommodation and age-friendly housing services. More on this next week!

We also highlight a range of items that we think will be of interest to you, including:

Looking ahead, our final HAPPI Hour session of our autumn series takes place on Tuesday, 2 November, ‘From Moving on to Moving In’. We will be focussing on different approaches to 'rightsizing' and later life moves from both a range of personal and practitioner perspectives.

And remember, if you are an early career professional, next Friday is the deadline for applying to be part of the 2nd cohort of our Future Leaders programme. Find out more, here!
