Housing LIN Newsletter February 2011

This is the last ever Housing Learning and Improvement Network (LIN) enews, Housing with Care Matters, from DH Care Networks.

In this issue of Housing with Care Matters, we cover the latest policy and practice developments, new Housing LIN resources and forthcoming events. These include:

  • ECH wins award - Waverley Gardens, the DH funded scheme in Bristol, developed and managed by Brunelcare and commissioned by Bristol City Council, wins the Housing LIN award at this years National Housing for Older People awards
  • Investing in local communities - Information on the new Affordable Homes Programme from the Homes and Communities Agency and its capital investment priorities, including supported and specialist housing are now available
  • The Health and Social Care Bill - We summarise the key housing aspects outlined in this new Bill
  • Welfare Reform Bill - We report on the government's announcement of a major reform of the welfare benefit system in a Welfare Reform Bill released this week.
  • Two new Housing LIN materials - We point out that the Housing LIN has released a new Case Study on reablement services at Marina Court, the DH funded scheme in Tewkesbury, and a second Viewpoint on 'downsizing'. The latter addresses issues relating to under-occupation and maximising choices for older people to move to specialist housing
