Relevant Local Strategy
The Council’s vision for adult social care is “… that people can get the right level and type of personalised support at the right time in order to help, prevent, reduce or delay the need for ongoing support and maximise their independence."
Implicit within this is the acceptance of ensuring appropriate and sufficient accommodation for older people. This ambition is set out in more detail in both the market position statement (2015) “Explore further opportunities for the development of extra care models in partnership with housing colleagues” and the Local Plan that under policy H4 identifies “The Council will support proposals for specialist housing, including extra care and supported housing to meet identified needs. Accommodation will seek to deliver and promote independent living.”
