With Christmas closely upon us, our final newsletter of the year starts with an exciting announcement!

In January 2024 registrations to the Housing LIN Summit - A Festival of Ideas open! Taking place virtually from Monday 26th February to Friday 1st March, our annual conference will bring together leading figures from the housing and care industries to share their ideas, innovation and inspiration. More on this to follow in the New Year!

This will be our last newsletter before the Christmas break, but we'll return Monday 8th January with all your housing, health and social care news.

"I am saddened to learn of John Sneddon's death. He championed housing with care and understood how the complexity of the planning system could work in favour of extra care housing. This helped ensure that some of the earliest Department of Health-funded schemes got off the ground. 

He was also generous in sharing his knowledge and expertise about planning with the Housing LIN: writing guest blogs, speaking at our events and sponsoring our first planning portal. He will be sorely missed by us and the sector at large."

In case you missed it, the APPG Inquiry into Regeneration of Outdated Sheltered Housing will look at how best to regenerate our existing supply of outdated sheltered housing. This includes modernisation, extensions, repurposing and replacing older stock and service models to meet 21st century expectations.

We would like to remind our members that there is now a call for evidence about sheltered/retirement housing in the social and private sector including from a range of tenures, social rent, affordable rent, leasehold, sale and shared ownership. The deadline for submission is Friday 23rd February 2024.

As we celebrate #GetOnlineWeek, let's take a moment to reflect on how TAPPI Phase 1 highlighted a significant aspect. While COVID-19 accelerated the integration of technology into the daily lives of many, it also exacerbated the digital divide.

At the same time, it allowed us to strive for greater ‘digital integration’ across housing, health and care, putting the real needs of older adults and disabled people at the heart.
